Android 17 Android Android keeps three separate switches: Use location for the whole phone, one location permission for each app, and a precise-or-approximate choice under any app you have allowed. Google documents that with device location off, emergency location services or your mobile carrier can still send your device's location to emergency responders when you call or text an emergency number. macOS 27 Golden Gate Mac One switch in System Settings turns Location Services off for the whole Mac, and every app and system service under it has its own. Sharing your location with people is a different switch again, inside Find My. Apple says that even with Location Services off, third-party applications and websites may still use other ways to determine your location. Windows 11 Windows Windows has one switch for the whole device and a second one for your user account, with the list of apps that may use your location underneath. Microsoft says desktop apps do not support per-app control, and that a limited set of Windows features still use your IP address for your area when location services is off. watchOS 27 Apple Watch The watch has its own Location Services switch at Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services, and Apple says the privacy settings you change on the paired iPhone are applied to the watch as well. Sharing your location with people is a different switch again, and it belongs to your Apple Account rather than to the watch. Apple documents that when a cellular Apple Watch is sharing and the iPhone is not with you, Find My shows the location of the watch. Chrome · Safari · Firefox · Edge Browsers This is the permission a website asks for, which is a different switch from your device's own location setting. Each browser keeps its own list: block every site from asking, or take the permission back from one site. Microsoft and Mozilla both say a site can still estimate roughly where you are from your IP address.
